About Our Team
History - Frenzel Tube Amplifiers is a family owned business located southeast of Dallas, in the woods of east Texas. My name is Jim Frenzel. I built my first tube amp in 1952 and I am still building them. Yes, 68 years and counting. To do something that long you have to love it...and I do. In the early part of my career, I designed high-power transmitters for the Air Force and back-pack transceivers for the Army and CIA. Most of the gear was used in the Vietnam War, and it was all tube based. In the later part of my career, I designed solid-state equipment for high-tech companies, including computer interface platforms for Texas Instruments OMAP processors used in the first smart cell phones. Even though I finished my career designing solid-state equipment, my true passion has always been for the vintage tube amp designs and the warm tones they produce so I started Frenzel Tube Amps in 2001 as a retirement business with two main concepts. One was to build custom high quality tube amps at affordable prices and two was to give the best customer service in the world. To do that you have to have friendly talented dedicated people who love their work, and we do! Everyone at Frenzel is a master craftsman, loves their work, loves music and loves people. My three sons who got me started building guitar amps for them when they were teenagers back in the 70's are now all engineers as well as musicians...and excuse me if I brag a bit...fantastic guitar and keyboard players! With their help and a lot of input from our "tone freak" friends, we have designed and built thousands of custom tube amps for musicians and audiophiles all over the world. Know this for sure...we love our work...and we think you'll love our amps! Read our Reviews page and you will see the truth in this statement.
Thanks - The world is a very large place and we are separated by many cultures and beliefs, but there seems to be in all of mankind a desire to play music and celebrate life and we are happy to be a part of that common bond of humanity. If you are a first time visitor, I want to personally thank you for thinking of us for your amp needs. We are constantly adding new products and new features to our products. If you have a question or a request for a feature you don't see, Contact Us anytime. To our devoted friends and customers all over the world, we cannot possibly thank you enough. If it were not for you and your passionate reviews and referrals, we would not be here. Your kind words and compliments on our amps give meaning to what we do here at Frenzel. We look forward to serving all of you with the prompt, personal and friendly service you deserve.

About Our Amps
Unique Custom Designs - Frenzel amps are very different from anything else you will find in the custom boutique amp market. They were inspired by the classic 50's-60's tube amp designs that create the "tones you know and love" but they are not clones. They have many added features and custom options not found in the original vintage amps which allows you to create your own design and your own individual tones. We manufacture a wide variety of amps and preamps for musical instruments and home entertainment use. They have a large selection of upgrade options including custom voices, power levels, reverb, tremolo, choice of tubes and cabinets. More detailed information, specifications, photos, videos, and sound clips of our amps may be found on the individual amp web pages.
Hand-Crafted High Quality - Quality is our most important product, so we hand-build everything in-house at our rockin' little factory in the woods of east Texas. Each one of our amps is like a work of art to us. It is a great pleasure to build them for you. We love to make the music come alive! All of our amps are point-to-point hand-wired with no printed circuits or terminal boards. We use military style tie-wrapped wiring harnesses for long life and reliability. It takes longer to build an amp that way, but the end result is worth it. Great care is taken in the routing of the wiring and placement of parts to provide the best signal path. Only the highest quality parts including low noise polypropylene capacitors, metal film resistors, Neutrik jacks, Micalex sockets and premium heavy duty transformers are used in our amps. Where possible we use parts made in the USA. We use premium JJ Electronic tubes known for their warm tones and reliability. All tubes are pre-screened for noise and hum, and tested for optimum performance before insertion in the amp. Before shipping, each amp is performance tested on instruments and speakers to insure all specifications are met and then it is burned in for 24 hours and retested. This attention to detail produces an amp that will last for generations. When we ship an amp, our goal is to deliver more than the customer expected. We put our name on our products and our name and reputation are more important to us than anything.
About Our Prices & Order Process
Factory Direct Low Prices - All of our amps have their prices listed on the amp description page and you will notice right away that our prices are much lower than you would expect. We are often asked why our amps are so inexpensive compared to other name-brand boutique type amps. The answer is that we are a family owned and operated company with no corporate overhead expense...and we sell factory-direct to the customer. There is no middle man or dealer mark up in our prices. Also, we do not spend money on media advertising. All of our business comes from our website, our listings on eBay & Amazon and customer referrals. And finally, we do not stock any amps and thus have large amounts of money tied up in inventory. All of our amps are custom built to order. This allows the customer to choose only the options he wants and thereby control the price. All of these reasons allow us to build affordable high-quality custom tube amps that will outperform and outlast any of the "re-issue" name-brand type amps now being mass produced in China. You can't beat our quality or prices anywhere!
Streamlined Order Process - All products are custom built to order and shipped direct to the customer. We do not stock any amps, cabs, speakers or accessories. Our lead time varies, but it is usually about 3 weeks. Your "Order Confirmation" receipt will specify a more accurate lead time for your order. Once your order starts the production process, we will update with you "Status Reports". A "Shipping Notice" with tracking information will be sent when your order is shipped. For more details on how to order and our sales policies and warranty, please go to the Sales & Shipping Info page.
Foam Cushioned Packaging - We spend a lot of time building your amp and the last thing we want is for it to be damaged during shipment. The damage from vibration and impact that shipping services cause to packages is well documented. We have designed a double-box foam packing system to eliminate damage and get your amp to you in perfect condition. Both boxes are heavy duty double wall cardboard. The inner box is isolated from the outer box and cushioned by 2" foam blocks.
